SACF cadets – 3 star navigation assessments.

Text and photos taken from Shropshire Army Cadet Force Facebook page:
“11 cadets participated in their 3-star navigation assessments over the weekend.
The morning session began with the completion of a route card, followed by a journey to Nesscliffe Hill. There, the cadets demonstrated their navigation skills, including walking on bearings, estimating paces, and timing each leg of the route. This exercise required them to apply their comprehensive knowledge from their basic, 1-star, and 2-star training. For many, this was their first experience navigating in this way, providing valuable learning opportunities and insights.
After returning to Copthorne for lunch, the cadets completed a second route card. The afternoon continued with a trip to Bayston Hill for a well-deserved chip shop dinner, before heading to Lyth Hill for a night navigation exercise. During this night time session, the cadets were challenged to apply the skills they had practiced earlier in the day. The importance of accurate pacing and precise timing became especially evident as they navigated in low-light conditions.
The cadets performed exceptionally well, gained significant new knowledge, and maintained high morale throughout the day.
