What a fantastic training exercise to be part of.
The Cadets will have experienced team-building, resilience, use of skills learned such as first aid, physical and mental endurance, not to mention social skills.
As the Trust supporting Shropshire ACF – we are very proud to learn of your amazing performance during this weekend – well done to you all!

“From the 28th to the 30th March, Shropshire ACF sent three company teams, comprising of 28 determined cadets, into battle at the annual brigade Mill Skills competition. Held at Swynnerton Training Area, this gruelling event pushed the best ACF and CCF teams from across the brigade to their limits in a series of high-intensity challenges. With the support of nine dedicated CFAVs, the cadets braced themselves for a relentless weekend of competition, resilience, and teamwork.
The challenge began Friday night with a meticulous fieldcraft kit inspection, setting the stage for what lay ahead. As the sun rose, the cadets threw themselves into an unforgiving line up of stands: First Aid under pressure, Observation Post reconnaissance, precise Navigation, and in-depth Military Knowledge assessments. They fought through intense Break Contact drills, executed Room Clearance operations, and held their ground in Defensive battle scenarios, proving their grit at every stage. Saturday’s final trial was a tactical planning exercise, forcing cadets to strategies’ a high-stakes humanitarian aid mission in a tense operational environment.
Sunday delivered the ultimate test of endurance: the March and Shoot event, where speed, accuracy, and mental fortitude determined success. Although none of the Shropshire teams secured a top-three finish, the final placements from fourth place downward are yet to be announced, however their performance was nothing short of outstanding. Each cadet gave their all, representing the county with unwavering dedication.
Over the weekend, the Commandant visited the teams, recognising their relentless efforts and commitment to excellence. It was a weekend of exhaustion, challenge, and triumph, one that proved yet again that Shropshire’s senior cadets are always ready to rise to the occasion.
Well done, cadets! Your determination, teamwork, and resilience were exceptional. Be proud, not only for overcoming your own challenges but for representing Shropshire to an outstanding standard.
