Shropshire ACF Christmas Camp: A Festive Weekend of Fun and Recognition

Shropshire Army Cadet Force is now planning 2025 activities for the army cadets of Shropshire and as the supporting Trust we are looking forward to hearing how we can help with these.
Just before Christmas the army cadet force held it’s Christmas camp that some Trustees were delighted to be part of.

From 6th to 8th December, Shropshire ACF hosted its much-anticipated annual Christmas Camp, a cherished tradition that brings cadets and adult volunteers together to celebrate the season and strengthen bonds. This year was no exception, with an impressive turnout of 237 cadets and 41 adult volunteers.
The weekend was designed to offer exciting activities that enriched the cadet experience and promoted esprit de corps. Despite Storm Darragh forcing a change to the original plans, the team adapted swiftly, replacing outdoor activities with safe and enjoyable indoor alternatives to ensure the fun continued unabated. A highlight of the weekend was Saturday evening’s festive Christmas dinner, where cadets were treated to a delicious meal served by the adult volunteers. Following the meal, each detachment entertained the County with creative and spirited skits, spreading laughter and Christmas cheer.
Camp also provided an opportunity to honour the dedication and achievements of several adult volunteers with promotions and awards:
• Lt Roessner and Lt Powell were promoted to Captain.
• SI Good was promoted to Staff Sergeant Instructor (SSI).
• Maj Budryk was awarded his fifth bar to the Cadet Force Medal, a testament to his remarkable 42 years of service.
• Thirteen adult volunteers were recognised with the prestigious King’s Coronation Medal. KCM was issued to recognise the service and dedication of individuals in the Armed Forces during the coronation of King Charles III on 6 May 2023.
Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the weekend was a resounding success, embodying the true spirit of camaraderie, celebration, and recognition.
