County Wide Lucas Tooth Competition

All Army Cadet detachments in Shropshire participate annually in the competition for the prestigious ‘Lucas-Tooth’ shield, a distinguished trophy dating back to around 1916.
Every Army Cadet county possesses a ‘Lucas-Tooth’ shield, which was established thanks to a generous donation from Sir Robert Lucas-Tooth, 1st Baronet (7 December 1844 – 19 February 1915), a noted philanthropist.
The shield is awarded to the detachment that accumulates the most points across various activities, including Football, Cross Country, Athletics, Skill at Arms, First Aid, Military Skills, participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Swimming, Army Cadet Syllabus achievements, and attendance at annual camp.
For the 2023–2024 competition, Dawley Bank detachment secured first place with 103 points, followed by Wellington detachment with 98 points in second, and Pontesbury detachment in third with 96 points.
At the annual camp in August, Mrs. Anna Turner, HM Lord Lieutenant for Shropshire, presented the trophy to the cadets from Dawley Bank.
