19 Aug Shropshire Army Cadet Force Annual Camp 2026

A couple of weeks ago the Shropshire Army Cadet Force took part in their annual camp at Beckingham Camp and Training Area in Lincolnshire.
Our Trust is so proud to read the reports of the camp, hear of the adventures and experiences and see the photos. We are so proud to support you!
In record-breaking temperatures the cadets and volunteers were tested in more ways than they had originally anticipated.
Day 1: Camp started with a busy first day, with a strong focus on administration, briefing the cadets on the week ahead, and ensuring everyone was fully prepared for the exciting programme ahead. The day included a welcome address from the Commandant, camp familiarisation, and the opportunity for our cadets to begin building new friendships.
Day 2: Action, Adventure & All-Out Energy!
A day of exciting activities, hands-on learning, and plenty of opportunities to challenge themselves with ranges, fieldcraft and In-Camp Training & Drill and Turnout competition.
The Senior Cadets enjoyed a fantastic day of Adventurous Training on the water.
Day 3: More In-Camp Training & Drill and Turnout Competition and Fieldcraft with training continuing through the night.
Day 4: Adventure training, navigation and expedition training for some.
Senior cadets visited Woolsthorpe Manor, the home of Sir Isaac Newton, where he developed his theories on the laws of motion and universal gravitation. The cadets had the opportunity to see the famous apple tree associated with Newton’s inspiration for studying gravity. They were highly engaged throughout the visit and represented the ACF exceptionally well.
Day 5: (the hottest day of camp!)
Shooting, Ranges, Fieldcraft and In-Camp
Despite the soaring temperatures, the enthusiasm, resilience, and determination shown by every cadet was exceptional.
Day 6: Visitors Day
Shropshire Army Cadet Force were delighted to welcome a number of distinguished guests to camp, giving them the opportunity to see first-hand the incredible experiences and development our cadets are gaining.
The cadets were excellent ambassadors for Shropshire Army Cadet Force, confidently demonstrating their newly acquired skills, speaking proudly about their experiences, and showcasing the opportunities that the Army Cadets provides.
Day 7: The final full day of camp
The day centred around the County Gun Run Competition and preparations for the End of Camp Parade, led by the County Commandant and attended by our honoured guests, Lord and Lady Lingfield, along with former County Padre David Andrews.
It was a proud occasion for everyone as promotions were awarded, commendations presented, and the achievements of our cadets and CFAVs celebrated.
A huge congratulations to Wellington Detachment, who were announced as this year’s Lucas Tooth Shield winners, a fantastic and thoroughly well-deserved achievement!
An enormous thank you to all Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs). Your tireless support, passion, and willingness to give up your time make this organisation what it is. We truly could not do it without you. You help deliver unforgettable experiences and shape futures.
