Summer Camp – 2025

This year’s annual summer camp took place at the beginning of a scorching week at the start of August and what an amazing week it turned out to be!
As the Trust supporting the Shropshire Army Cadet Force (SACF) we were delighted to support the cadets in whatever way needed throughout the week – and we loved seeing the photos and reports shared to SACF Facebook page.

This year the SACF were joined by Dorset ACF to share the week long split camp  – 2/3 at Altcar and 1/3 at Holcombe Moore Training Camps.
The week started with administration and camp familiarisation. At this point with spirits high, friendships growing, the memories were already stacking up!
Day 2 dawned and the work began – high-energy activities, firsthand learning, and plenty of fun along the way.
Day 3 marked “rotation day,” with cadets from all cadres rotating through the various activities enabling them to gain new skills.
Cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) from both counties worked together seamlessly. A true lesson in team building and teamwork!
In typical British-weather style, as the cadets moved out into the field, the heavens opened! The cadets embraced the experience (and the rain)
The week flew by and soon it was the traditional Visitors’ Day. SACF welcomed dignitaries and honoured guests to see firsthand the incredible impact of their continued support. The cadets rose to the occasion, proudly demonstrating their newly acquired skills and engaging confidently in conversations with the visitors. It was a wonderful opportunity for guests to see the development, dedication, and pride our young people have gained from camp.
A huge congratulations goes to Ludlow Detachment, who were announced as this year’s Lucas Tooth Trophy winners, a fantastic achievement and well deserved!
Also, to everyone who received an award or recognition, well done!
Your dedication and effort have not gone unnoticed.
Finally, an enormous thank you to all our Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs). Your tireless support, passion, and willingness to give up your time make this organisation what it is. We truly could not do it without you. You help deliver unforgettable experiences and shape futures, thank you from all of us.
They say a picture paints a thousand words – and that is certainly true of the photos taken by Captain Simon Hill – thank you for sharing the photos to Facebook and for recording the week for the cadets, parents, volunteers, the Trust, the sponsors and also for the general public to see what a worthwhile organisation this is.
